Der Bach_01, Fuji instant film, 9.5 × 7.3 cm, 2021, Germany
A collaboration with photographer Yanru Zhang. They photographed a one-kilometer stretch of the Katernberger Bach with a large-format camera, consistently framing the green banks and the houses beyond. Attuned to shifts of light and the movement of water, they worked with color instant film and its fragile negative. Prone to scratches, the negative becomes the basis for black-and-white baryta prints, subtly shaping the atmospheric tone of the images.
