Go into the Water, Cyanotype watercolor paper, 135 × 100 cm, 2022, Germany
A collaboration with photographer Yanru Zhang. Inspired by Japanese landscape painting and Ukiyo-e, the work reflects Buddhist ideas of impermanence and the uncontrollable power of nature. Rather than depicting the landscape, they worked within it, using cyanotype to capture its presence and allowing natural forces like water to shape the process itself.
Blue appears both solid and empty—simultaneously material and immaterial—which becomes central to the work.
From over 100 images, the final selection was guided by composition, aiming not only for visual clarity but also for an intangible, atmospheric impact.
